what solver for air cyclone simulation
Dear All,
I am planning to simulate an air cyclone, with no particles in it. Does anyone have an idea about the solver? I checked on the inetrnet, simpleFoam and pisoFoam seem to be the most popular two. And simpleFoam is used for steady state. The pisoFoam is for transient flow. As I remember when using Fluent simulation the air cyclone, I chose steady at the first place. But it did not converge for a long time, untill I switch to transient state later. So the choice of solvers really confused me. Thank you Regards Litchy |
Hi Litchy,
You can do the same with OF. First, run the steady state simulation with simpleFoam. It will initialize the field. After, you can setup the case with pisoFoam or pimpleFoam and you use the mapFields utilities to map your steady state results as initial values. Best regards |

If that so, try pressure based coupled solver in fluent, it would be much faster. |
