Hello Aria,

I recommend you start with a case from one of the tutorials that is similar to yours (eg: one that uses the same solver). Copy-paste the whole case and change what you think you need to (eg: mesh and boundary conditions) and try running it. Read the error messages you get closely and they are normally able to help you figure out which files or dictionary entries are needed.

If you are uncertain what one of your dictionary entries does, try Googling it, looking in the user guide/programmers guide, or posting a more specific question.

Good luck! It is hard work figuring everything out, but rewarding when you finally get something right!

nicole :)

thanks nicole
I would really use your suggestion. but is there a good guide book you can introduce me? (except openfoam user guide)

Sourceflux.de wrote a book which is really good, you can find out more on their website. They also run courses, which I can also highly recommend. The openfoam wiki also has some pretty good stuff but it can be tricky to find. I'm pretty lazy so I prefer to just Google my problems one by one as I have questions. It's a tough journey, but very rewarding.

Good luck!
