Getting hydrostatic pressure in a vertical box using simpleFOAM
4 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I would like to have a vertical cuboïd box (see figure in attachment) with no fluid motion and kinematic hydrostatic pressure (using simpleFoam) like if I cut a box in a static sea. Do you know which boundary conditions for p and u are the best on each face (to get such kinematic hydrostatic pressure and zero velocity after simulation with simpleFoam) ? And how could I add gravity using OpenFOAM (i didn't manage to get clear answer on the forum) Here are my blockMeshDict, initial p and U files with respective boundary conditions (for the different faces, I used patches to assign boundary conditions). (I specified 100 and 120 for the pressure at the top and bottom because the height of my channel is 2m so using dp=-gz...) Of course, because my model is wrong (g is missing) I got (with those parameters) discontinuities for p and v at the top and the bottom of my vertical channel... but above all I got oscillating forces (forces don't converge with simpleFoam). |
Hi,
I understand my previous post was a little bit long. So, I'm going to try to make my question shorter : I have a vertical pipe with fluid inside; how can I add gravity to simpleFoam and which boundary conditions (more especially for the top and the bottom, since I can use cyclic bc or wall bc for front, back, left and right)can I use for the different walls after having used simpleFoam (so as to have an hydrostatic pressure distribution and 0 velocity) ? Thanks, |
Take a look at buoyantPimpleFoam and buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFoam
