I have a quick question. I am wondering whether I would be able to simulate my system in OpenFoam. I need your suggestion.

Schematics has Attached herewith.

This is a batch system. Single phase flow is circulating due to the effect of rotary impeller. In my system geometry contains one impeller & two concentric cylinders which generates an annular section where the flow goes down and internal section where the flow moves up due to the impeller suction effect.

For certain purposes I need to include filters at top and bottom of inner cylindrical domain. These filters are also responsible for pressure drop with specific linear pressure drop equation.

Seeking for suggestion. Thanks in advance.

Hi Imtiaz,

The exact answer to your problem is in the one of the tutorials in OF.
See tutorials/compressible/pimpleDyMFoam/annularMixedVessel something like that.
Hope this helps

Thank you Kossivi for your reply.

I am now just wondering whether it is possible to include filter across the flow with specific pressure drop equation in this batch system. I appreciate your suggestion.

I can really get your question. Do you want to introduce a pressure equation in the system ? where do you want to ?

Yes your are right.
There are two filters at the bottom and top indicated by green bar in attachment. This is required for special purpose.
The filter pressure drop must be considered to understand the flow pattern and the flow velocity as well.

But I am not sure in 3D system in OpenFoam foam is it possible to include this inner boundary condition. Need your advice.
