Hey FOAMers!
Has anyone run an industry level problem that involves the VOF approach? I'm trying to simulate one that has high momentum and I have a fine mesh to capture details. I've always had issues with time steps and resolving the interface accurately. The time step requirement drops to orders of 1e-6 and when my overall runtime is high , this can take months to solve. I've used a lot of options like the implicit approach, playing with correctors, alpha parameters, but somehow it hasn't worked well. Could anyone help me on this regard? Any interesting methods like a height function along with the VOF approach...or anything at all?? Thanks Aks |

if you are looking for steady-state solution, you may want to use LTSInterFoam which is suitable for VOF steady state problem

Hey Nima
I'm not looking for a steady state solution. Consider filling a tank with a high flow rate and you got crazy splashing as it fills. This is what I have. Any interesting suggestions as to how to go about it? I'm working on running with slightly higher Co numbers, controlling correctors. And for the alpha equation...sub-cycling is also considered. I'm using vanLeer for alpha conv schemes and interfaceCompression for alpharb (Henry). |
