Mistery topology

I tried to run the motorBike tutorial with a different geometry, in the form of a .obj.gz file.
I even moved the original out of the resources folder.

After running, paraFoam shows an object that looks suspiciously like the original bike/rider.

I understand there remains named patches, groups,etc., but where did it get the topology from?
