Overlapping AMIs

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

Is it possible to model two AMIs which overlap each other? I would like to model two propellers which are quite close and placed next to each other. I have attached a picture of my problem.

Is it possible to simulate such problem? So far, I haven't found any problems which related to this case. Can anyone help me how to set up this case? I have already tried to generate a mesh with snappyHexMesh, but it seems that it merges the AMI regions. I have seen that the cyclicACMI condition might be suitable, but I'm unsure if it can be used.

Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Gabor

Quick answer: You have a situation common with lobular/gear pumps. See this thread for more details: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...gear-pump.html

Another hypothesis: you would need overset (chimera) grid strategy: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...era-grids.html
