stability of sixDOFmotion solver with interFoam
 
I am doing a transient 2d water entry problem of a swimmer using a modified version of interDyMFoam which implements overset meshes. Density of the swimmer is 985 kg/m3 and less than water due to which I have to enable moveMesh outer correctors in fvSolutions and do atleast 10 pimple iterations to stabilise accelaration otherwise spurious oscillations in the accelaration will crash the solver.

I would like to know if its recommended to use accelarationDampingCoeffs in dynamicMeshDict to force converge the accelaration when using interDyNFoam or is there any other solver settings that can stabilise the accelaration and speed up my calculations with less iterations per timestep.

There is one posibillity that maybe could help.

in the dynamicMeshDict you could try to add the line:

acclim [here comes your value];

Which will set a absolute limit for you max acceleration.

This value will have influence of the results of your iterations.

It also will help a little to prevent aborts.

Thank you for your reply. Does this enable me to give a positive and negative limit for acceleration and should it be given as a vector?

Can you please state the correct format of entry into the dictionary.
