interFOAM/ sclsVOF. Interface representation.

Hi FOAMERS;

Good day!!

I have been using interfoam solver and having a difficult time to prevent smearing of the interface. I know there are several threads related touching this topic but i would like to discuss the problem in detail.

1. I tried to smooth alpha, and generate an interface curvature(k) and find capillary forces and related fluxes. Apply further filtering to the capillary forces/ fluxes to reduce the spurious currents and it works well for static cases however for dynamic cases the interface is badly smeared out.

2. Thinking of an other method available, I used the "SCLSVOF" method{Level set + VOF}. Using this method also proves to be good for static cases and further the representation of capillary forces is accurate due to the usage of the level set function to determine the surface tension force.

However, this method too is heavily influenced by the smearing out effect and it does make sense. The level set function is calculated from interfoams alpha indicator function. Everything afterwards is clear. But what would be the case if the VOF's alpha is itself wrong?

NOTE
: Here I define the level set function to act at interface with alpha value of 0.5. Smeared out interface alpha value falls below 0.5.

I would like to know if anyone were able to implement a method where the interface behavior is depicted in a meaningful way.

Waiting for your reply and advice;
