Hi Dear Foamers,
In fact, I am trying to simulate Ranade's bubble column considering turbulence model. I require to ignore k-epsilon model for dispersed phase in order to obtain better results. At the moment, I am using mixtureKEpsilon model but I am not able to ignore the gas phase turbulence. I also tried LaheyKEpsilon model without gas turbulence and with liquid turbulence, but it failed after fist iteration. I would be thankful if you let me know your experience or useful comments. Thank you |

I got my answer. Perhaps, it may be useful for who has problem as same as mine.
We could set KEpsilon for water, and use laminar for gas. But we cant use alpha=1 inside field. Instead of alpha=1, we should assign 0.99 to avoid crashing. Currently, the reason is unknown for me. |

ehsan, good observation!!
I suppose you are running with twoPhaseEulerFoam, right? By any chance, have you ever tried to use a non-Newtonian liquid? I am having some trouble doing so. I think the only way is modifying the solver; however, I had no success so far on knowing how these turbulence models call for viscosity values.

In fact, I am simulating gas-liquid flow with population balance was added twoPhaseEulerFoam inside bubble column. So then, my model is based on Newtonian flow. |
