Hello everyone,

I'm really with my latest foaming experience.

I am simulating the behaviour of the wake behind a sphere for "low" Reynolds number, i.e. Re = 500 and 1000.
At these regimes the wake is unsteady, that is, it oscillates. When I run pisoFoam and pimpleFoam, for laminar, kw-SST or SA-IDDES, I get a "frozen" wake at any instant in time. BUT!!!!! if I run simpleFoam for laminar OpenFOAM captures de unsteady physical phenomenon by showing the wake with a different shape at consecutive iterations. I have even run versions 2.40 and 3.0.1, obtaining the same behaviour.

The wake behind a sphere is symmetrical upto a Re=212, where it becomes non-symmetrical, but it still needs a higher Re to oscillate. When this happens, below Re=400, the oscillations ought to be captured by the solver.

I am including a few files in case someone is able to find my mistake, if any ...

thanks!!!
C.
