Dear all,

In order to provide the inflow data for LES simulation, I am now conducting a pipe flow simulation.
I am using the ID-DES method with non-uniform boundary conditions and pimpleFoam for the simulation. The diameter of my pipe is 4.25 mm, the length of the pipe is 4 times diameter and cyclic boundary condition. The yplus is smaller than 1 and mostly round 0.2, courant numer smaller than 0.5. According to the pipe diameter, velocity and viscosity, the Reynolds Number should be around 8000-10000, because i set the bulk velocity of 60m/s.

I didn't start the average process. When I check the profile of 0.1s, the profile looks like laminar, there is not turbuence created. Something like that in the attachment. lU_0.0045.jpg Also the velocity profile. U_plot_0.0045.jpg.

But there should be turbulence for me to use the averaging process, otherwise the simulation is not useful for my LES simulation.

Anyone knows if there are some problems with my simulation? Please give me some tips if you have a clue.

Thank you very much

Best regards

Litchy

The figures I put before is for the time of 0.0045.

You can see the figures for the time of 0.1 here:

Dear Litchy,

you might find this thread useful to do what you expect.
There are some guidelines for your preprocessing.
