Hi!

I know that this topic has already been part of some conversations at this forum,
but unfortunately I did not find any final solution which could help me to solve
my problem.

I would like to simulate the natural convection laminar boundary layer over an heated plate. Can anybody give me some advices? How should computational domain look like, which boundary conditions should I apply (for U, T and p), should I use buoyantBoussinesq or buoyantSimpleFoam solver, etc.??

The idea is to compare the numerical results with the experimental measurements and similarity solutions. The OpenFoam simulations of Blasius boundary layer have already been done and tutorials can be found at the internet. There are also some tutorials with explanation how to simulate the laminar natural convection BL in Fluent and Comsol. So, can anybody give me some advice how to do that in OpenFoam?

Thank you!

It is not clear from your post, what type of geometry you want to simulate. There ist the plate, of course. But what else? A plate in an infinite region? Or a plate covered with a thin fluid layer? Or a plate as one side of some kind of box?

I don't see any reasons for using buoyancy based solvers, except that plate is so hot that gas evolves. But it may be that I don't understand fully what you want to calculate.
