overset grid example

1 Attachment(s)
In these days I tried some of the new overset grid functionality of OF v1706.
I just modified a little bit the overInterDyMFoam floatingBody example.
I increased the water coloumn height and I remove all constraint in the dynamicMeshDict and rerun the case.
I found some strange behaviour for the water. In some instant the water simulation stop while the solid object still floating. After some time the water restart to be computed and then it stopped again.
Could someone explain what is the meaning of such strange results?
Have a look to the attached video.

Many thanks, ALex

Hi Alessandro,
did you figure out what was the issue?
I am keen to hear from you as I do see some funny behavior in the floatingBody tutorial too, simply changing domain size.
Regards,
Gino

Hi Alessandro,

I would identify these strange moments in time and check the log from the simulation to see whether the equations were solved and converged. Maybe (fabulating) the solver somehow figured out the alpha is converged and there is no need for update.

Please give more details about the strange moments.

Matej
