Determine the time step size for passive particle tracking

How do u guys usually determine the time step size for passive particle tracking on a pre computed flow field? I notice OpenFOAM only offer low order tracking scheme with fixed time step size. While, SEEMLY, the automated adaptive time step scheme offered by Fluent provides a more efficient approach.

Thanks in advance
Randolph
