moving 2d mesh gets too compressed

Hello,
I have calculated Mesh movement for a 2D Mesh (something like a hydrauliccylinder) with sixDoFRigidBodyMotion. But the simulation stops at some point, because the mesh gets too compressed on the left side. How can I avoid this or how can i run the simulation longer? As far as I know the sixDoFRigidBodyMotion does not use a diffusivity parameter? Note that I need to use Fluid Solid Interaction. I've found out that, you must use some topological changes. Otherwise this is not possible, because there always will be some deformation, if you do this like this.

I am starting to use mesh movement in OP4.1. I want to simulate injector cavitation, when the needle is moving up and down. I created a ICEM-Hexa mesh which is suitable for mesh movement without topological changes. The gap distance between injector housing and needle is variable depending on time. The distance is represented by the same amount of cells at all times. The cells get stretched and lengthend. Good mesh quality is ensured. I have no idea how the mesh motion is setup in OF. In my case, it is only relevant to move a wall (needle wall) patch in z-direction depending on time. I feel, this is the same as you did in your case. Can you give me a hint how to start or even better to provide your files of mesh movement? Thanks and regard, jcw |
