Hello guys,

could anybody describe internal faces & boundary faces?

I'm reading manual now but I don't understand

Hey!

I Will try to answer your question, hope it helps :).

So, if you imagine how the finite volume mesh is build, you can see that space (your computational domain) is discretized in cubes or other 3D object (tetraeders, general hexahedrs ...)...

Lets stick with the cubes. So you have many of the cubes adjecent to each other. Two adjecent cubes share one face. That is an internal face.

If a cube is at the border of your domain it shares some faces with the neighbouring cubes, however one face is not shared with others, this face is defining the border of the domain. This face is boundary face.

So for example, if you want to edit some value that is defined on faces inside the domain, you would need to edit internal faces. If you would want to supply a new boundary condition, you would need to edit values of some field on the boundary faces.
