Question about calculating the gas holdup in the bubble column simulation of openFOAM

Hi Foamers

I am recently doing a bubbleColumn simulation and I need to calculate the global gas holdup by using generated data files. Since the bubbleColumn is based on the Euler-Euler model mathematically, which treat the whole model as a single continuous phase. Can i therefore assume that all alpha (the volume fraction of air) is less than unity inside the bubble column, even if the cell is quite near the gas inlet area?

If so what i need to do is just get rid of all the data that equals to 1 inside the alpha.air file, and calculate the average of it.

Thanks for ur time!
