Hello,

We would like to simulate isotropic turbulence with LES in OpenFOAM, that is the case of boxTurb but with LES, e.g., with pisoFoam. May I ask you is it a straightforward process?

The alternative case would be Comte-Bellot and Corrsin experimental data. Would any one advice in creating the initial conditions for this case?

Regards

Hello Ehsan,

I'm trying to do the same. First I tried for boxTurb and I found that it will be difficult to adjust the required inlet parameters such as the turbulence intensity. What I did is run this utility normal for box and after that adding the required mean velocity and divide the box into several slices from which using them in my case as timeVaryingMappedFixedValue as a boundary condition for the inlet. and it gave nice results but you have to produce no. of inlet slices as the same no of time steps to prevent repeating the same value at the inlet.

The disadvantage that boxTurb depends on the dimensions of the generated box, which means that you have to develop it for the same dimensions and no. of cells like your case exactly.

Nowdays I'm trying to get isotropic turbulence inlet with another way. but the problem is that the output for the velocity fluctuation at the center line of the channel is notr behaving well especially the streamwise fluctuation as shown in the attached picture. Could you please if you ahve any comment about the behavior and if you know the sourse of the error don't hesitate to tell me if you theink it's very small information??

Thanks a lot

Mohamed

Hello all
I want to "Import Forced Homogeneous Turbulence (HIT) to LES simulation", and use it for interFoam simulation. Do you know how to generate and map(import) it to my case?

Thanks,
Farzad
