Hi all,
I have flows around an airfoil at moderate Reynolds numbers, and I am going to use LES to obtain the flow field. I would like to hear some comparison, user experience, etc. in terms of PimpleFoam vs. PisoFoam. Note, I have read previous posts about the similar questions already. My take-away is PimpleFoam is able to have large time steps and seem to be more robust and efficient. My concern about PimpleFoam is, I think PimpleFoam is not really “transient", I mean the algorithm seeks a steady state for several iterations in one time step. I am not sure what is the impact bu doing this (besides making codes more stable), and does it make sense in physics? In my case, I do not need a large time step, what matters most is the accuracy of my simulation. Any inputs are highly appreciated! Best regards, Peter |
