dynamicMesh : combined translational and rotational motion

Hello everyone

I hope to have some help for my project in OpenFOAM which consists in making a combined movement of translational and at the same time rotational motion of a mesh.
I used in this case dynamicMotionSolverFvMesh / velocityComponentLaplacian for translational motion but I have no idea how can i combine the rotational motion.

Thanks & Kindest Regards,
Aymen

Hi Aymen,

I'd suggest you to use groovyBC: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/groovyBC
It's a very versatile tool, have a look at the examples written there. Keep in mind that now it's contained in swak4foam: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib/swak4Foam

Regards,
Joaquin

thank you very much Joaquin i'll take a look :)

Hello Aymen,

You can do it using "solidBodyMotionFunction multiMotion" with several libraries such as dynamicMultiMotionSolver or multiSolidBodyMotionSolver.
The multiMotion function allows to combine several movements such as combinations of rotation and translation.

Have a look in the tutorials: mesh/moveDynamicMesh/relativeMotion.

Yann
