FSI using pimpleFoam in OpenFOAM v6

Hi everyone,

I am kind of new to OpenFOAM and I would like to know if it simulates FSI. The solver `pimpleFoam` in OpenFOAM v6 can solve a dynamic mesh movement.

Can somebody refer me to a case or a tutorial on how to use pimpleFoam to solve FSI problems?

Thank you beforehand.
Best,
Zidan

Hello Zidan,

It depends on what you mean by FSI. If you want to simulate the motion of a rigid body due to fluid forces, yes you can do it with pimpleFoam. (have a look on the wingMotion tutorial)

But you cannot simulate a solid deformation.

Regards,
Yann
