Question about interFoam Solver
Hey Froum,
i got two general questions about interFoam Solver in OpenFOAM. At the openFoamWiki about interFoam, i did not receive an answer to my question. Here is the Link: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/InterFoam
Which method uses interFoam ? Out of a Book, there are three main groups of solvers. Is it possible to name the method that uses interfoam ? 2. I use SimScale to simulate my cases, for multiphase simulations, they use interfoam. In the Numerics folde, i can choose another solvers (??) for U, modified pressure, modified pressure final and so on. The Solvers are Mules,GAMG, PCG, PBiCG and smooth Solver.Greetz Kai |
It seems to me that you are confusing linear solvers with numerical schemes. And even in the sub-categories you intermix different things. Don't know which kind of book you have!!
The method interfoam implements for the solution of multiphase flows is called Volume of Fluid (VoF), First proposed by Hirt somewhere in the 70's. Several flavors exist: the one interfoam has is called "MULES", a cousin of CICSAM. |
Hello Santiago, thank you for your reply :). yes, i think i mixt up a few things. My Book is Numerische Strömungsberechnung from Stefan Lecher. As i understand from this page: https://www.openfoam.com/documentati.../fvSchemes.php Schemes have to defined, how to solve interpolations, gradient and divergence operations and so on, and the order of these operations. Standard is Gaussian finite volume integration. Is this right ? And the Preconditioner are to tranform a numerical problem in a more suitable way. The multi-phase solver is Mules, but for the other values, i have to choose other solvers. It depends i. e. of the matrix structure (symmertric or asymmertic). mh, i think im slowly understand it. Best regards Kai
