FireFoam: CO and H2 als fuel

Hello everybody,

I've been watching the tutorial for fireFoam. It uses CH4. Now I want to replace the fuel CH4 with a mixture of CO and H2.
As radiation model I use fvdom. But I get an error.
Can anyone tell me what I have to change? Or is it because you cannot do a radiation calculation with fireFoam if there is CO in the fuel gas?

Thanks for your help!

Greetings

It is hard to help without knowing what error you get / what you have tried. That said, some general information : fireFoam tutorials use a single-step, infinitely fast approach to combustion modeling. This is pretty fine for modeling diffusion (i.e. non premixed) problems, and from memory works for a single fuel. If you have multiple fuel components, you will probably want to look at using a multi component mixture (like the reacting foam tutorials) and then solve a corresponding reaction mechanism. I think the sandia/dlr flame tutorials use radiation as well.

Hello clapointe,

please excuse my tardy reply.
You have already helped me a lot with that.
Can I test the tutorial with OpenFoam version 4.0 or do I need a newer version of OpenFoam?

Thanks for your help.

Greetings

I do not remember off hand what version the tutorials were first included. I'd just check to see if it exists in version 4. If not, the newer ones should -- maybe 6 and definitely 7.
