I am a mew FOAM user. I have a some problem. This is error message. I did connect all nodes and shared OpenFOAM-v1912 files. please help me. [2phase@knl001 depthCharge3D]$ mpirun -hostfile machines.txt -np 60 -compressibleInterFoam -parallel ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open MPI has detected that a parameter given to a command line option does not match the expected format: Option: np Param: -parallel This is frequently caused by omitting to provide the parameter to an option that requires one. Please check the command line and try again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Thank you! but, another error message comes out
bash: orted: command not found -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORTE was unable to reliably start one or more daemons. This usually is caused by: * not finding the required libraries and/or binaries on one or more nodes. Please check your PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH settings, or configure OMPI with --enable-orterun-prefix-by-default * lack of authority to execute on one or more specified nodes. Please verify your allocation and authorities. * the inability to write startup files into /tmp (--tmpdir/orte_tmpdir_base). Please check with your sys admin to determine the correct location to use. * compilation of the orted with dynamic libraries when static are required (e.g., on Cray). Please check your configure cmd line and consider using one of the contrib/platform definitions for your system type. * an inability to create a connection back to mpirun due to a lack of common network interfaces and/or no route found between them. Please check network connectivity (including firewalls and network routing requirements). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

From this thread ([OMPI users]) environment variables need to be set in bashrc for non-interactive logins, e.g. at the top of the bashrc file. Do you have this?
Mike also gave helpful troubleshooting tips at this forum post. |

1. Are all processes expected to run on the same computer or on different ones? If on different ones, the child processes will need to log in to the remote computer without you. This is not interactive.
2. How did you set the path? Thanks, |

export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/opt/openmpi/bin export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/opt/openmpi/lib but I installed openmpi-1.10.7 in Thrid party-v1912. so do I write the path differently? for example, export PATH=$PATH:/home/2phase/OpenFOAM/ThridParty-v1912/openmpi-1.10.7/bin export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/home/2phase/OpenFOAM/ThridParty-v1912/openmpi-1.10.7/lib hanks for your help ![]() |

I would suggest to put these two lines at the top (not at the bottom) of your bashrc.

I would suggest to follow Mike's troubleshooting steps which I linked earlier, and post the results here.
