reg one way fluid structure interaction

Hi,

I would like to solve a one way fluid structure interaction problem using openfoam (ESI version). For this, I performed fluid simulations and saved wall shear stress as a function of time and space on the solid object. The solid solver is modified to read wall shear stress as traction boundary condition at every time step. This however results in extremely large displacements. I recollect that traction T=sigma.n, and so using the wall shear stress seem to be appropriate. For the wind speed under consideration, the displacement is not expected to go beyond a few centimetres, but the results are O(1E9). Is there something fundamentally wrong or is it that OpenFOAM ESI version has some issue?

Hi!

How did you modified the solver? Note that these displacement solvers are using E/rho which have to be used it the BC too.
You could try to give a uniform traction based on the fluid simulation (some averaged value) and check if the original solver fails. If not, probably your BC is wrong.

Even with uniform traction, solid solver in openfoam gave unphysical displacements.
