Overset mesh basic question - different results on background grid?

I am simulating flow over a static cylinder using overset mesh (overPimpleDyMFoam).


The results appear different on the background grid, and it causes a difference in the solution once the flow moves past the overset patch. Do any of you have some suggestions? I am using a small time step (dt = 0.001s), and the kOmegaSST turbulence model. Using leastSquares interpolation Am I not understanding something about the overset grid? The cell size is a similar scale at the overset patch.
