dsmcFoamPlus Read Point-Specified Inlet BC from File

Hey everyone,

I am using dsmcFoamPlus solver provided with OpenFOAM-2.4.0-MNF-1.0.1 package, and I am looking for an inlet boundary condition that reads point data from a file in a similar manner as timeVaryingMappedFixedValue. The intent is to be able to run a continuum solver, output data at a slice location where the flow becomes rarefied, and then read that data as inlet properties for the dsmcFoamPlus solver.

I have searched through this forum but was unable to find any documentation of this capability for dsmcFoam.

Does anyone have or know of this capability in any version of OpenFOAM? If not, I am also open to general advice on how to implement (I am new to OpenFOAM).

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi,

In case it still helps someone:

dsmcFreeStreamInflowFieldPatch

You could map your slice data to the boundary of a field and use it as input.

Otherwise it is possible to use an arbitrary mesh interface.

If you want to initialise a dsmcFoam+ simulation with a specific (eg non-uniform) boundary condition, I wrote an explanation for how to do so here

Hope this helps!
