OpenFOAM and Clusters

Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to reduce the number of files that openFoam generates for a simulation case. As an example, I have a case that generated around 48,000 files! This is problematic on clusters as there is a limit on the number of files one can generate at the allocated space.
I would appreciate any assistance.
Thanks.

Have you tried the collated file format?

The commit message of the original commit expands on the motivation for this feature:

Quote:

The new format produces significantly fewer files - one per field, instead of N
per field. For large parallel cases, this avoids the restriction on the number
of open files imposed by the operating system limits.

Dear Gerhard Holzinger,
Much Appreciated! I did not know that this option exists.
Thanks for your time.
