Hi

- Do you have any pre-investigation or summary of your current findings that you would like to share with us to have a kickstart, if possible.

No, I just have case of compressible flow I am not sure which solver to be used

- It should be straightforward to search web to get a preliminary information to isolate your questions, and help others in the forum.
- Hope you find a solution to your problem.

mAlletto will become famous soon enough
So just a quick start for those how see this thread:

rhoCentralFoam is a unsteady density based compressible solver.

rhoSimpleFoam is a steady pressure based compressible solver.

A short description of the solver rhoCentralFoam can be found in this thesis which also provided a description of sonicFoam which is a pressure based unsteady solver:

https://www.researchgate.net/profile...teractions.pdf

The original (at least the oldest i could find) paper describing rhoCentralFaom is the following: https://home.cscamm.umd.edu/centpack...9-centpack.pdf

I started a wiki with the description of rhoSimpleFoam. However it is still work in progress:

https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/RhoSimpleFoam

This book https://www.springer.com/de/book/9783319168739 provides an excellent overview of the numerics in OF and also the derivation of the pressure based compressible solver

Thank a bundle for sharing the reference of rhoSimpleFoam.

I am happy to support a wiki page on rhoSimpleFoam.

Please let me know if I can contribute.

It would be good to have
* a section on rhoThermo vs. psiThermo (for ideal gas eg.) (bits and pieces are on thus forum already);
* a section on boundary conditions (bits and pieces are on thus forum already);
* a section explaining the transonic switch;
* a section explaining the need to limit temperature and velocity (as e.g. HPE recently recommended);
* a link to examples and tutorials;

Cheers, Domenico.
