Hello,

i'm new to CFD and trying to simulate a river with a flood plain with a modification of the shallowFoam solver.
For that i created two Meshes and merged them in OpenFOAM. So i got two regions with no connecting faces.
The simulation of the river works pretty good but i couldn't figure out how to couple the two regions correctly!
I have one boundary at each region (interfaceRight, interfaceLeft) that i want to couple with groovyBC.

So what I need is that there is an inflow into the basin when the water level of the river is higher than the water level in the basin.
From other Threads i read i thought it has to be something like:

interfaceLeft
{
type groovyBC;
value nonuniform List<vector>
.
.
.
valueExpression "(hinterfaceRight-hinterfaceLeft > 0 ? ... : (0 0 0) )";
fractionExpression "1";
variables
2
(
"hinterfaceRight@interfaceRight=hTotal;"
"hinterfaceLeft=hTotal;"
)
;

Has anyone maybe done something comparable to this or could just help me?

Hi Paul,

Did you ever resolve your issue? I've done something similar but not with interfaces:

Best wishes,
