solver selection_dynamic mesh_leak simulation

Hallo Foamers,

i am trying to do leak simulation, propane gas is leaking from a inlet and in the domain, i have air completely. propane leak stops after sometime, leaked propane because of density, comes down and forms a cloud on the ground.
So, as of now i am using rhoReactingBuoyantFoam, with reactions off. I selected this solver for buoyancy treatment. Is there any other solver which can be used for this case?. I ran the case with this solver, and everything seems good. But, i want to add dynamic mesh (ABR to scalar propane), but this solver does not support dynamic mesh. i had a look at some posts, but didnt found any information on adding dynamic mesh capability to the solver code.

1. which solver is suitable for this application?
2. How to add dynamic mesh capability to a solver?

Any suggestions?

cheers,
nikhil.

Without knowing which version of openfoam you're using, it is hard to provide concrete advice. As of about openfoam 5 dynamic mesh capability was added to reactingFoam, which may aid in adding that capability to rhoReactingBuoyantFoam. That said, I've published an AMR-enabled version of fireFoam that should work for your case. Here's the link to the repository : https://github.com/clapointe2011/public -- it should compile for Openfoam 6.

Dear clapointe,

Thanks for the reply, i am using openfoam7. Right now, I am trying to add DynamicFvMesh capability to reacting Foam, by myself. But there is much change in the results (flux), when I tried to validate the edited solver, with the existing mesh (I am working on it). Anyway, I will go through your solver, and let you know if it works for me. Thanks for sharing.

cheers,
nm.

Dear clapointe,

I checked reactingFoam solvers of OpenFOAM 3, 4, 5, 6, but I didn't found any dynamic mesh header?

cheers,
nm.

Ah, so my guess was wrong. Check out Openfoam 7 : https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM...ReactingFoam.C.
