Discussion on forces acting on particles in multiphase solvers like DPMFoam

Dear All,

We have a lot of options of forces in openFoam, which can be applied on lagrangian phase (particles). Some are:

Drag force
gravity force (combined with buoyant force)
Lift force
pressure gradient force

SRF
Interface force
Non-Inertial frame force
paramagnetic force
virtual Mass force

I am interested to know the what are these individual forces does to particle phase and which Forces have significant contribution in particle motion (e.g. in gas as continuous phase). I am especially interested to know the Non-Inertial frame force and Interface force. If we can collect the information about all these forces at one place, it will be great help for beginners like me.

Best Regards
Atul

Some of the forces are briefly described here in section 3:

For more detailed information I would recommend the book "Multiphase Flows with Droplets and Particles" by Crowe et al.
