Hi,

Under Eulerian/Lagrangian framework of OpenFOAM, there is a particle-size distribution model called "multiNormal".

I wonder if anyone knows:

• (exactly) what is this model? Is it "multivariate normal distribution"?
• is there any verification/validation/showcase test setup/simulation in the literature/web (couldn't find any)?
• any feedback on its usage/performance/output/metadata (anything)?

The definition of the model in the header file states the following:

"A multiNormal distribution model"

I would bet this is the "multivariate normal distribution" model, but the implementation confuses me: e.g. drawing pseudo-random values from the distribution could not be that straightforward - I would expect at least the Cholesky decomposition being used thereat.

Any help is highly appreciated.

I think `multiNormal` is a mixture distribution -not a multi-dimensional fancy normal distribution-, like in the following link.
