As a step in my goal to learn how to simulate car radiators, I ran the v2012 tutorial, 'heat exchanger' under the chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam folder. Attached is a paraview image of the result, which shows some things I don't understand.
The left and right faces of the porous media are specified as inlet and outlet. Why are the upper and lower faces not named in this way? Maybe it's related to the porous media axes system? Although difficult to see in the image, under the porous media are four blades. As the streamlines show, they don't rotate, and I'm wondering why they were included in the tutorial; they don't seem to add anything. I hope to hear comments from anyone familiar with this tutorial. |

Hi,
You are using SimpleFoam. Only the steady field is simulated. So, the blades do not rotate. However, a MRF zone (named MRF1, created from rotor cellZone) exists. MRF1 is adding rotational effects. If you look closely, streamlines and velocity fields shows those effects. |
