Boundary values for k and omega

I'm trying to model 3D flow around a bridge pier using OpenFOAM module simpleFoam. What should be the values of k and omega at walls and the free surface? The boundary condition type at the free surface is the symmetry boundary condition.

At symmetry boundaries you don't need a value. It is computed. Hence the value you input is only used at the first time step. Simply choose something in the range you expect.
