Dear collective internet expertise,

Long story short. I want to simulate a heated water pump with openFoam (v2312) and I am not sure if OpenFoam provides the necessary solvers. Questions follow below.

I. Requirements:
A. Physics:

1. constant density flow (incompressible + constant density, because water)
2. non-isothermal (due to heating)
3. conjugate heat transfer (due to interaction heating element <-> fluid)
4. turbulence (due to a too high Reynolds number)

B. Solver:

1. transient
2. dynamic mesh (rotating zone due to the pump impeller)
3. multi-region (due to conjugate heat transfer)
II. Assessment:
The problem seems to be that there is no solver for my problem that can do both conjugate heat transfer and dynamic mesh.

Sources:

Alternative idea:
I split the calculation into a fluid dynamic and a heat transfer part.
III. Questions:
1. Is there really no solver that meets my requirements?
2. Is it possible to implement the alternative and first calculate the velocity field and then use it for a separate conjugate heat transfer calculation of the temperature field?
Thank you very much.
