Hi OpenFOAM Useres,
i´m trying to simulate with openFoam the sedimentation of Solid Particles in an Pool wich have an inlet and outlet. Im using InterFoam to simulate the internal Flow but i dont have any idea and if its possible to put Solit PArticles in the Flow... to see what heppen, do they transport with the flow ore do they suspend!? can somebody help me for this with telling me were can i finde an controll datei and how its possible to simulate this with interFoam? Best regards Berati |

Hi,
I guess generating a solid obstacle in the flow is straight forward. If you would like to have a simple structure like a square or so, you could do it directly using "blockMeshDict". To have a more complicated and numerous number of obstacle objects its essential to use "snappyHexMesh" utility to generate a model for computation. WRT suspension or obstruction of the solid particles, it completely depends upon a host of flow, model features such as shape of the model and obstacles, flow rates, fluid properties etc. Saideep |

Hello Saideep and thank u for your Answer.
Yes everything is klear, i have worked with blockMesh, and the simulation is running very well. The only thing what i dont know how to do is to put Solid Particles in the Flow. Its an Multiphasen case, with air und watter. An Trubulent flow. I cand find in the Tutorials an relevant case. It musst be one way to do this with openFOAM So i hope someone here have do somthing like this bevor, or can me give some tips how to do this ? Thank you Best regards Berati |

As Saideep mentioned, you could simulate the particles as actual objects. For that there are two possible tutorials that might help:
As for sedimentation... Google should help here... read this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...transport.html |
