Hi!
I would like to simulate a gas expansion from a capillar of 0.5 mm diametre and at 250 mbar pressure into a tank at lower pressure (approx. 5 mbar). The velocity of the gas at inlet (capillar) is something like 800m/s and the regime is not laminar (Reynold number at the inlet is very high).
Which solver should I use? Is there any similar model in the tutorials?
Thanks a lot
Amalia

Hi!
Does anyone have experience in modelling supra sonic expansions with Openfoam?
Thanks
Amalia

Hi Amalia,

did you ever figure this out? I have a similar problem except i only know the pressure at a pinhole into a region of reduced pressure. Let me know. I have my mesh set up and checked, I am just struggling with the BCs in transmissive regions and at the pinhole.

Use Sonicturb Foam with standard KE turbulence.

Enjoy.
