Hello,

Has anyone started to implement a population balance model, droplet size moments transport model in Foam?

just thought I asked, I am trying to model the break-up of a liquid jet into another liquid with a eulerian-eulerian approach.

hello,
I will add the code of population balance which is already written for fluent (UDF).
The results with fluent are very good.
so when I will add it I will send it on the forum

Hi there,

I am interested at implementing the moments model with the eulerian-eulerian approach, solving phase independent tranport equations for the moments of the number size distribution of droplet diameter (for spray applications)... a huge problem in trying to implement this approach in conventional commercial codes is that the moments are actually tranported with the moment average velocities, not the phase velocity, and convective source terms are needed to work around this problem....also rho's and alfa's inside the derivatives are undesirable. Normally, the softwares do not offer this flexibility, that's why I want to try it with Foam...

Does anyone have any experience with that ???

Thanks a lot.
Joao.

Sounds like fun - indeed, you can have as many independent flux fields as you like. Have you considered how you are going to make them conservative?

Conservative fluxes...hmmm. By conservative you mean the flux leaving a control volume must be equal to the flux entering the direct neighbour control volume ? Maybe I am missing your point here, but by defining our new independent flux as u*phi (and not rho*u*alpha*phi) and integrating over the whole control volume (and not only where, say, phase 1 is present, otherwise we would have "alpha" appearing again), as long as we don't formulate it in a non-conservative way ( d/dx(u*phi) and not u*d/dx(phi)... ) wouldn't be enough ?

Or do you think it is better to keep the idea of incorporating every change in the RHS of the equation with some convective source term (I must say I don't like it...)?

Again, thanks for your help.

Joao.

Respected experts,

When applying Discrete*Population Balance Model in ANSYS Fluent we have to put predefine boundary conditions values. For Example,

phase.. Air.. Bins...7 Ratio Exponent...1.7 Minimum Dia...0.05cm then in boundary conditions... Velocity Inlet...Boundary Values*for setting*are..

Bin-0-fraction________ * Constant

Bin-1-fraction_________ Constant

Bin-2-fraction_________Constant

Bin-3-fraction_________Constant

Bin-4-fraction_________Constant

Bin-5-fraction_________Constant

Bin-6-fraction_________Constant

How to set these values to get appropriate gas distribution ?

Hello all,

Have anyone ever tried to use PBE with Euler-Euler solver and non-Newtonian liquids? I am still trying to understand how to implement non-Newtonian behavior on twoPhaseEulerFoam. Does anyone have any thoughts?
