Hi

I am thinking about using OpenFOAM for LES computations. Can anyone tell me from their experience what resources are required to solve on a mesh of, say, 5-10 million cells (i.e. CPU time, number of processors,..) Are there published papers on use of OpenFOAM for LES?

You haven't given a lot of information, but I'll take a stab at it anyway.
10 million cell LES would probably require about 16 cpus running for a month. This number is just ballpark. It will vary considerably depending on your application.

Hi Gavin,

Nice paper name ( Physics of Fluids ) - can I have a copy when it's done please? In return, I'm offering some (utterly cool!) fluid-structure interaction: flapping console

Thanks,

Hrv

Will do on Monday - if I can retrieve it from the smoking pile of hardware which used to be my office computer. Motherboard has blown, so all I have at the moment is the hard disk... Luckly I had just made a backup, so everything is retrievable to other machines (eg. my laptop) but its bloody inconvenient.

Love the FSI, BTW.
