I'm a student.
I'm making a work on boats. I have to show simply the importance of the hull shape. But I MUST do it with computed simulation.

I'd like to know, if it's possible to OpenFoam to give me informations about hydrodynamic resistance, directly or using other informations.

I don't have time to learn C++. The work must be done in a few weeks. So, it must be available in the standard applications!!!

I hope somebody will be able to answer this question.

Thanks you a lot,
Sorry for my bad english!

Hi simon ofcourse openfoam

Hi simon

ofcourse openfoam can do this . check out the interFoam solver ( potential solver ) or rasInterFoam ( RANS solver ) . both the solvers simulate the free surface and they both can be used for free surface - or wave resistance as in your case? but i think it would take more than a few weeks ! because you need to get your grid all ok , then your boundary conditions + you need to know how to install/set up and run openfoam. (i don't think you need to know so much of C++)
