I am a PhD student (working on Internal Combustion Engines pollution). I am a new Foamer(I just read the user guide and run some tutorials).
Is there a soot model in OpenFoam?
Thanks

No, there isn't one at the mom

Depends on how you want to mod

Depends on how you want to model it.
It can easily be done using the chemkin interface.

I tried to use chem.inp and therm.dat (/applications/test/readCHEMKINIII/CHEMKINdata/) for soot modeling.
when runing a 2D case with dieselFoam I got this error:
((
--> FOAM FATAL ERROR : unknown specie A1C2H)2+ on line 1193
Valid species are :

.
))
1193 line in the chem.inp is as
A1C2H* + C2H2 = A1C2H)2 + H 1.80E+19 -1.67 18800. ! 760 Torr RRKM
and I think there is not A1C2H)2+ in it. I had the same problem in other cases.
what is the problem?
thank you

Hi Niklas, i m a new Foamer and i m just learning it. i wanna ask whether dieselFoam gives accurate results for 2D mesh (if we keep mesh as same as given in OF-1.5 tutorial (just eleminating z coordinates)) and keeping every thing like properties etc same as given in tutorial

How to model soot using chemkin interface? There is chemkin.dat (Golovichev chemkin mech file for n-heptain combustion) with soot reactions comment out.

It is only necessary to uncomment these lines and start solver?
