DSMC and OpenFOAM

Hello,

I want to simulate a gas flow (athmosphric pressure) around a cylindrical nanowire. I think, because of the high Kn I should use a DSMC solver.
Has anybody worked with the DSMC code which comes with OpenFOAM 1.6?

Thank You

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
what's your Kn value?

Kn Number

Hi Ivan,

The diameter of the wire is between 40 nm and 200 nm (depends on etching - process).
If I take the diameter of the nanowire as d the Knudsen-number is between 1.5 and 0,3 (I think the mean free path of air is about 60 nm at athmospheric pressure).

Thanks for your reply

Sebastian

hi sparbrötchen

have u done ur simulation yet ?

Is there anything I should take care of when simulating micro channels ?

cheers,
archy
