Good day All I have reviewed documentation and this forum and cannot find a description / purpose of the turbulence entry in the turbulenceProperties file. Could someone confirm the purpose of the following entry?
Code:
turbulence off
Is this a switch that simply switches off the viscous terms? Or does this deactivate the nominated turbulence model irrespective of the dictionary entries (e.g. RASProperties). Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards JFM

The latter one. The solvers that allow turbulence models (i.e. pisoFoam), needs to know whether or not it should use one.

This makes the turbulence model to work as laminar but copy the turbulence files (k, epsilon, omega, etc) to time folders. It is good to inicialize a flow as laminar and continue it as turbulente.
