Hi,
I'm new to OpenFOAM and would like to know how to set up a simulation which uses periodic boundary condition for the side walls. I have an unstructured grid generated by ICEM and convert this with starToFoam. I would be thankfull for any help. Maybe there is already a tutorial case for unstructured meshes and periodic b.c.? Thanks in advance, Christoph |

Hello Christoph,
You might want to give it a try using the cgnsToFoam converter we have uploaded on openfoam-extend. One of the test cases (test1) that comes with the converter source code is based on a CGNS to OpenFOAM conversion using a CGNS file generated from ICEM. Another test (test3) case shows how the cgnsToFoam converter can deal with periodic BCs. In order to retrieve the source code for the CGNS converters, simply refer to this thread on the Forum: http://www.cfd-online.com/OpenFOAM_D...tml?1226101872 Martin |

Hello guys,
I'm trying to convert a cgns-file, that I obtain from my own tailor-maid asciiToCgns converter, to OpenFOAM. I've got simple 1To1-Interfaces in it, and periodic 1To1-Interfaces. The 1To1-Interfaces do not appear in OF after conversion. I guess OF stiches them together automatically, without introducing a new bc patch in <boundary>. As for the periodic interfaces, I consulted Martin's test3 for cgnsToFOAM, and tried the following line: cgnsToFoam ../../../../result.cgns -cyclicRotZ 60.0 -matchCyclicBC 1To1_INTERFACE_10A:1To1_INTERFACE_10B Which doesn't work. What disturbs me is that I have already put the variables rotCentre(0,0,0) and rotAngle(0,0,1.047) in my cgns-converter. I would like to have an adfviewer-glimpse at the mesh.cgns file, that should be part of the <test2> tutorial directory, but when I do a svn-checkout, the tutorial doesn't contain the cgns-file. Can you tell me where I can get that file from? Do you have an idea of what I may do wrong? Thanks - Michi |

you can use fluent3DmshTofoam

I out put fluent .msh file from ICEM ,but before that you may need re-order the face element of periodic boudary
