Variable thermophysical property for incompressible flow
Hi foamers,
I am solving for a water flow through a cooler in which it experiences a large temperature drop. I tried to look for a way to implement the changeable thermophysical property of water. For the viscosity, it seems there is one only viscosity model for water, i.e., Newtonian. In this forum I could also find some threads which are about to solve it in a compressible way. I am not sure about which way I should follow. Thanks for any suggestion or discussion. |
Did you look at nonNewtonianIcoFoam? There are definitely more viscosity models available.

I noticed there are other options also. But these viscosity models are for non-newtonian fluids. I am simulating water flow. So I don't think I can use them. It also seems to me that the viscosity in these model, such as CrossPowerLaw and BirdCarreau, are not related to temperature and pressure, but to the strain rate. Now I am writing a new viscosity model. Hopefully I can introduce the water properties into the viscosity model. Then I can have a changeable viscosity. Regards |
Ah yes, sorry about that. I'll guess you'll have to come up with something yourself then, but that shouldn't be the hardest task. It should suffice to run through the viscosity volScalarField once every time step and change the values based on the other parameters.
