problem with placing a jet
Hye everyone,
I am very new to OpenFOAM, so if anyone could help, I will be thankful to him. I want to simulate a jet of fluid coming in a cubic space using VOF method. How can i place a jet of fluid? Regards Vivek |
you can do this using interFoam, the jet is placed via an inlet which is set by your boundary conditions.
if you're very new to openFoam (and we all have relative terms for 'very' ) I would recommend first starting with a test case and just working on understanding how it all works before you start making your own. I have been working with interFoam for a few months now and the interFoam/ras/damBreak tutorial is an excellent place to start |
Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, i already solved a dam break case using interfoam solver. But, i am confused with how to place a jet of water at the top of space? instead of water at the left bottom as in dam break case. Can you please help me with the boundary conditions?
Thanking you Vivek |
with the dam break case you don't have a jet of water, just standing water. to place a jet you need to specify an inlet in the blockMeshDict file in your constant/polyMesh directory.
I recommend looking in the user guide at the damBreak case on page U-56. They do a great deal to explain how a mesh is generated. What you'll need to do is create a patch at the top of on of your walls and specify it as an inlet. |
