rhoPimpleFoam aborting with floating point exception (because of wrong bc p?)

Hello everyone,

what I did until now:
3D structure build with ProE --> exported as IGES/STEP
Imported with Netgen-4.9.13 and meshed with option very fine --> exported as Neutral Format
Imported with netgenNeutralToFoam (openfoam-2.0.0)
copied files from ... /compressible/rhoPimpleFoam/ras/angledDuct (edited a little bit the patches and names of the patches)

The way I set up my boundary conditions: (http://netload.in/dateiOF69C1QR0g/20110808r1.tar.gz.htm ~134 KB) (it's a little bit bigger file size than ~97.7 KB because of compatibility with openFOAM 1.7.1 and 2.0.x.)

These are the boundary conditions I want to set:
inlet is open to the atmosphere (athmospheric pressure 101325 Pa, inlet flow 0.000020833 Kg/s)
Outlet0 and 1 are connected to a low pressure pump. The pressure for each outlet is 1000Pa.
Temperature doesn't matter, so I set the inlet entry to 273.15 K and the other ones to zeroGradient.

I've tried it with openfoam-1.7.1, 2.0.0 and 2.0.1, laminar and turbulent settings edited relaxation factors, used rhoSimpleFoam and rhoPimpleFoam --> nothing worked for my case. I got always sooner or later a floating point exception.

My questions are:
1) Is it possible at all to solve low- or high-pressure problems with rhoSimpleFoam, rhoPimpleFoam?
2) What is the problem in my case?

Hope you can help me with my case.

Many thanks for your attention and best regards
Hauke

Hello Hauke,

I am working on a similar problem analyzing the air flow into a vacuum chamber through a 20 mil capillary. My inlet and outlet pressures are very similar to yours. I am interested in how this goes for you as I am having similar problems getting my model to work.

What is the Courant Number, MaxCo and deltaT (time step) you are using? for rhoPimpleFoam
