transportProperties settlingFoam

Dear all. I'm trying to simulate a slurry (sand/water) flow in a pipe using settlingFoam, but I'm unsure about different entries in the transportProperties file. I have gone through Daniel Brennans thesis on which settlingFoam is based but still have some question. I want the discrete phase to be sand (rho=2650) and the continuous phase to be water (rho=1000).

- Should I define 'yieldStressCoeff' 'yieldStressExponent' and 'yieldStressOffset' if I have Binghamplastic OFF? I suppose these values don't matter?

- What should I fill in for 'plasticViscosityCoeff' and 'plasticViscosityExponent?

- Could anyone give a clearification about the simpleCoeffs and generalCoeffs?

Thanks in advance!!!

You find the theory here:

Hi Alberto, I've gone through Brennan's thesis, however I'm unsure what coefficients to chose for sand. And if I have to specify 'yieldStressCoeff' 'yieldStressExponent' and 'yieldStressOffset' if I have Binghamplastic OFF?

Best regards,

No, you do not need that.
